There aren’t a lot of very balanced games during Day 1 of the World Cup 2018 group stage, but Brazil – Switzerland is certainly one of them – although traditionally, you wouldn’t think so. Brazil have been the much better team over the past 50 years, but the Swiss have shown that they’re not pushovers. Their recent for is just as good (if not better) than that of the South American powerhouse, and they certainly won’t want to go down without a fight.

Although, it has to be said, the Swiss might lose this game and still qualify from the group – they start as heavy favorites in their remaining games against Serbia and Costa Rica.
Switzerland is also in fine form – they’ve only lost 1 game during the qualifying group and won all the rest, but finished second behind Portugal, only to easily beat Northern Ireland in the playoffs and make it to the World Cup.
Since then, they’ve been in quite good form during their friendlies, and even managed a 0-0 draw against Spain. Their squad also contains some very interesting players who can prove to be difference makers against Brazil: Shaqiri, with his flair and technique, Seferovic’s goal scoring abilities and the ever-present Ricardo Rodriguez, their dead ball specialist.

At the other end of the pitch, we really can’t get tired of singing praises for the Brazilian team. Neymar’s game doesn’t show any signs of the injury that has plagued his last three months, and the rest of the team plays wonderfully around him.
They’ve won their last four friendlies, despite going against top-notch opponents: Russia, Germany, Croatia and Austria, without conceding a single goal.
They are one of the biggest contenders for the World Cup, a tournament which they haven’t won since 2002 – a very long time, if you’re a Brazilian fan. Neymar is their star player, but Jesus, Coutinho or Firmino can also be quick to take the spotlight.
Brazil vs Switzerland Betting Tips
That being said, it’s hard to predict anything else than a Brazilian win. At odds around 1,40, this won’t be a very attractive option for most bettors, but betting on the size of the win is not something we’d recommend. This game can finish 1-0, 1-1 or 4-0 just as easily, given the quality of the two teams.
Instead, we’d recommend betting that Brazil will have over 60 – 65% possession, and that the game will have below 4,5 yellow cards. Neither team relies on a very physical game, and being their first outing at the World Cup, we expect both to play less aggressive.
